Urban Decay Primer Potion - I'm (sorta) a believer

For the longest time I've talked a good amount of smack about Urban Decay Primer Potion (lovingly refereed to as UDPP).

Well, today I'm going to take some of it back.

I would get jealous, reading about how this wonderful, magical product would transform the eyelid and eye shadow, making the lid crease-proof and the colors pop with vibrancy. For the longest time, I never tried it simply because my Sephora didn't carry Urban Decay. Finally, one day I noticed they started carrying UDPP on its own at the checkout counter. They had a tester and I decided to give it a whirl. I opened up the fantasy-like bottle and applied it to the back of my hand.

Then. It happened.

My skin started to burn.

@#$@#%$^%$!? This wasn't supposed to happen!? Rainbows, bunnies and unicorns were supposed to appear when I used this!!! Where was the magic?! I hurried over to the nearest clean-up station and wiped my hand faster than you could say Urban Decay Primer Potion.

What happened? Why did it happen? I decided I wouldn't touch this stuff with a 10-foot pole. If it did that to my hand, who know what it could do on my eyelid. I swore it off completely. I ignored the praises on various sites and message boards and I testified my own horror story. I felt like the black sheep, the only person in the world who didn't looooooooooove UDPP.

It wasn't until I purchased the Deluxe Shadow Box (Actually, I first bought it for my cousin for her birthday; and after seeing how gorgeous the colors were and how she used them, I decided to get one for myself) that I actually allowed myself to have this demonic product in my home. I didn't use it for months (I've had it since May of this year). I would just toss it aside when I would want to use the palette, then stick it back in the box after I was done (Yes, some items I just have to keep in it's original box/packaging, this being one of them).

This past weekend I pulled out the palette again and just stared at the little tiny purple tube. I didn't open the box. I just stared for a good 5 minutes. The day was going to be miserable and it was possible that not even my Wet 'n' Wild cream shadow would survive the heat. I decided I would go through it. I would finally try the infamous UDPP.

I was surprised. The texture wasn't as thick as I thought it was going to be. I don't know if it was because what. Also, the little wand didn't come out with a lot of product, this could be due to the little mini baby-sized tube. I held my breath and applied it to my lid....waited....waited....and waited...what the flip? Where was the fire?! I couldn't believe it and had a glimmer of home that this magical product could too change my eye shadow-lovin' life.

I wore Primer Potion all over my lid for the day, and, while it did keep my crease, uh, crease-free, it did unfortunately did not give me extra "pop" to my eye shadow. The cream I had first applied became very dry, and did not have that key ingredient to make my shadow become more vibrant. I was deeply disappointed at this discovery. The next day I decided to have another go at it, but only applying it to the crease and leaving as little as possible off of my lid. I then used my new favorite, NYX Eye Shadow Pencil in Mocha, all over the lid and crease. I found that this was the best combo for me, I got the crease-free promise of UDPP, but still got the vibrancy from the NYX pencil.

So, UDPP, for the most part, I take back what I've said about you. You aren't so bad.
